WTA Madrid: Ash Barty fixes a duel with sensational semi-finalist Paula Badosa

Already at the start of the matchday at the Mutua Madrid Open, the first really big sensation was reported: Because not the number eight of the tournament, the Swiss Belinda Bencic, bought her ticket for the semifinals at the WTA 1000 event local hero Paula Badosa snatched it.

The Spaniard was extremely nervous in the quarter-finals - as it has been throughout the entire tournament - and was always wide awake in the most important moments. In the end, two more breaks should be decisive for Gunstsn Badosas, who secured her place in the semifinals with 6: 4 and 7: 5.

Barty must have three sentences

The task couldn't be more difficult there, as world number one Ash Barty is waiting for the local hero. The Australian kept the upper hand in her duel with the Czech Petra Kvitova, but had to pull an unwanted lap of honor.

Because Kvitova, after set one had clearly gone 6: 1 to world number one Barty, fought his way into this quarter-final duel and managed to equalize the set with 6: 3. In the third deciding set, Kvitova had a good chance of the rebreak in the meantime, but in the end had to accept the defeat with 3: 6. For Barty it was already the 15th win in a row.
