WTA: Maria and Niemeier start successfully
While Jule Niemeier made it into the second round of the WTA Tour 125 tournament in Budapest, Tatjana Maria did the same feat one category higher in Seoul.

The two Wimbledon quarter-final opponents from Germany progressed almost in step on Tuesday: At the WTA Tour 250 event in Seoul, Tatjana Maria exchanged blows with returnee Eugenie Bouchard, ultimately winning 7: 6 (5), 7:6(5). Maria, seventh seeded in Seoul, will face Australia's Kimberley Birrell in the round of 16.
It was similarly close at the 125 in Budapest. Jule Niemeier secured a place in round two with a 6:4, 5:7 and 6:3 against Magdalena Frech. Either Tamara Zidansek or Fanny Stollar is now waiting for Niemeier. Tamara Korpatsch is also in the round of 16 in Budapest. She now plays against Danka Kovinic us Montenegro.
