WTA Miami: Aryna Sabalenka and Barbora Krejcikova in lockstep into the round of 16

Aryna Sabalenka is definitely one of the ladies of the hour on the WTA tour. And so it is not surprising that the Belarusian made it quite clear on the sidelines of the WTA 1000 tournament in Miami that she now wants to tackle the number one position in the world rankings. The second in the world rankings has now impressively confirmed these ambitions on the pitch: With a tremendous performance, Sabalenka bought her ticket for the round of 16 of the hard court classic.
The reigning Australian Open winner stayed with opponent Marie Bouzkova for just one hour and seven minutes, after all, the second in the world rankings clearly won 6: 1 and 6: 2. In the round of 16 it comes to a hit against the Czech Barbora Krejcikova. The number 16 of the tournament also made it into the round of 16 without any problems - the Czech won against Madison Keys 7:6 (4) and 6:3.
Otherwise, at the lower end of the draw, there is primarily a strong sign of life from Bianca Andreescu, who, after a two-set win over Sofia Kenin, meets Ekaterina Alexandrova in the round of 16. Petra Kvitova and Varana Gracheva also meet in the round of 16 of the WTA 1000 event in Miami. In addition, Sorana Cirstea and Marketa Vondrousova have bought their tickets for the round of 16.
