Barty got off to a better start, quickly took a 3-0 lead, but left Andreescu back in the game in the fifth game: The 2019 winner could not use four chances to 4-1 on her own serve, Andreescu managed the re-break . But the world number one struck again, serving after 36 minutes to 6: 3.
Barty took the momentum with him and made a break in the first game of the second set. At 0-2, Andreescu, who only came back earlier this year after a 15-month injury break, twisted her right ankle.
