The 20-year-old Pole, who has been in excellent form for weeks, won 7-6 (7-2), 6-0 against former US Open champion Bianca Andreescu (Canada) and remains in contention for her fifth consecutive title. Swiatek had previously triumphed at tournaments in Doha, Indian Wells, Miami and Stuttgart.

In the semifinals she will face Aryna Sabalenka from Belarus in the Foro Italico on Saturday. Swiatek recently took a break in Madrid, which obviously didn't harm her. At the French Open in Paris (from May 22), which she won in 2020, she is the top favorite for the title.
