WTA tour: Petkovic and Friedsam with opening wins
Andrea Petkovic and Anna-Lena Friedsam got off to a good start in the WTA events in Nur-Sultan and Chicago this week.

Andrea Petkovic won her opening match at the WTA tournament in Chicago. The 34-year-old from Darmstadt easily beat Olga Goworzowa (Belarus) 6: 2, 6: 2 and advanced to the second round of the hard court tournament. The American Jessica Pegula (No. 9) is waiting there.
Anna-Lena Friedsam meanwhile reached the round of 16 in Nur-Sultan / Kazakhstan. The 27-year-old from Neuwied prevailed against the Australian Arina Rodionova after 2:05 hours in the hall with 4: 6, 6: 4, 6: 2. In the round of 16, the 27-year-old will meet number two seeded Belgian Alison van Uytvanck.
