Swiatek won her opening game at the WTA 250 tournament against compatriot Magdalena Frech 6: 2, 6: 1 and extended her tour record in 2022 to 47 wins with only 4 defeats.

She is now unbeaten on clay for 17 matches, after tournament victories at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix, the 1000 tournament in Rome and the French Open, where she won her second title after 2020.

Swiatek before Warsaw: "Little pre-season"

Swiatek had built up a winning streak of 37 matches over the course of the year, which only came to an end in Wimbledon, where she lost in round 3 to Alizé Cornet.

After Wimbledon she took a break and then trained hard, according to Swiatek , who spoke of a "small pre-season" before Warsaw. "Physically, I feel great." Mentally, however, the days were challenging, also with regard to the charity game at the weekend in Kraków - here Swiatek played against Agnieszka Radwanska and collected more than 420,000 euros for Ukraine .

Swiatek now meets lucky loser Gabriela Lee in Warsaw.
