Olga Sharypova renewed the allegations against Alexander Zverev

Alexander Zverev remains uneasy: While the currently best German tennis player is causing a sensation on the court with outstanding performances, there is anything but good news for the 23-year-old off the field: his ex-girlfriend Olga Sharypova emphasized in a conversation with Racquet Mag again that Zverev was often violent in the relationship in addition to the psychological absorption.

"He tried to strangle me with a pillow. I tried several times to run out of the room, but he didn't let me. In the end I was able to break free and ran away barefoot with a phone," the Russian had already proposed said about an incident a few days before the start of the 2019 US Open.

After she was convinced by childhood friend Vasil Surduk and his stepmother to return to Zverev, according to Sharypova it should get worse: "I really forgave him because people convinced me. I thought that I was really crazy and don't understand what I'm doing and supposed to be doing. Then we went to Geneva. "

Sharypova injected herself with insulin

On the sidelines of the Laver Cup 2019, the violence then assumed a new dimension. "That was the first time that he hit me in the face," said Sharypova. It even went so far that she wanted to take her own life after this argument.

"I understood that I couldn't live like this anymore. I took his insulin. I knew that a healthy person could die from insulin. I injected it into myself and wasn't scared. I just wanted to get away from it some way here, "said Sharypova. However, Zverev and a tournament manager were finally able to convince her to come out of the bathroom and take tablets to counteract the insulin.

It's difficult to talk about.

"It's difficult to talk about. It really was hell," said Sharypova. After many conversations with friends and her parents, the Russian is now better: "Thank God I'm alive, thank God I'm happy now and thank God that's behind me." The final end of the relationship between her and Zverev, however, came after the tournament in Beijing 2019 - a story that she only wanted to talk about in the future.

Zverev rejects allegations

Sharypova does not want to take legal action against Zverev: "I don't want anything from him." Rather, she is about to draw attention to violence in relationships and to help: "I want to show everyone that the story can have a happy ending at the end of the day."

Zverev and its management did not want to comment on the new allegations. At the press conference after his opening victory in Paris-Bercy, the world number seven had said that Sharypova's statements were "not true". He has already explained everything else on Instagram . Zverev's new advisor Bela Anda announced last week at the request of SID with reference to exactly this Instagram statement: "Alexander Zverev continues to stand by his clarifying statements made there."
