Andy Murray calls for practice against domestic violence in professional tennis

Andy Murray has joined Novak Djokovic and advocated guidelines from the ATP against domestic violence. The claim comes after the serious and so far unconfirmed allegations against Alexander Zverev from his ex-girlfriend Olya Sharypova.

Murray criticized the fact that the ATP took some time before it published a broadcast on the cause. "I've read a lot," said Murray, who came to the conclusion: "Tennis has no guidelines on domestic violence. That's a point we should all look at. Then the ATP also knows what to do in such a case instead of always reacting. "

The three-time Grand Slam winner continues: "You could be a bit more proactive. You have to take something like that seriously and watch the situation closely over the coming months.

Even during the ATP Finals, Djokovic advocated a protocol for the ATP. "There should be something like that. But probably none has been worked out because we have never had such cases," said Djokovic in London. One could learn something from the big sports leagues in the USA.

In an interview, Sharypova claimed that Zverev allegedly abused her emotionally and physically. The finalist of the US Open 2020 has vehemently denied this several times.

Nikoloz Basilashvili had to answer in court last May. The Georgian had been charged with "violence against a family member in the presence of a minor".
