Are the Hamburg European Open taking place in September?

Will professional tennis still be played in Hamburg in 2020? At least it doesn't seem to be excluded.

As the tournament at Rothenbaum in Hamburg announced on Tuesday, check "all options". So also a shift to an appointment in the course of the year. The traditional event was originally planned from July 11th to 19th, 2020. However, due to the ban on major events in Germany announced until last week until August 31st, regular implementation of the ATP tournament of the 500 category is not possible on this date.

They are in constant contact with the ATP, says tournament director Sandra Reichel. "Our wish would be to move to September." However, the current position in the calendar is currently being kept. A further decision regarding the ATP calendar is expected in the second half of May.

The tennis tour is currently on hold until July 13, 2020, when the Wimbledon tournament would have ended. The French Open was postponed to the end of September. A clay court tour around Roland Garros' new date seems conceivable.
