Ashleigh Barty keeps playing tennis (just off the tour)

Ashleigh Barty 's resignation came as a surprise to many. At least the Australian promised one thing: she would continue to play tennis.

She only hit a few balls about ten days ago, Barty explained in a press conference. "I will never stop playing tennis. I will just stop doing it selfishly to continue my career. There will be other reasons." /

The Australian specified this, albeit not yet in a complete way. She can't wait to go out onto the pitch with young girls and boys and "and get involved in different ways".

Barty didn't give any details, "it's just a goal and a dream on my part to give something back to the sport that has given me so much," said the 25-year-old.

Ashleigh Barty: Next career as a golf pro?

Is Barty also considering a different kind of sports career? It is possible. During her first big break between 2014 and 2016 she played cricket in Australia, but in recent times she has been seen on the golf course more and more often. And there with solid technology. There are always rumors about such a career, she was asked. "You guys love to gossip, don't you?" joked Barty. But you have to wait. "I have to try to hit the center of the racquet before I can even think about going on tour."

She shouldn't be lacking in support: Barty has been in a relationship with Garry Kissick since 2017, and he is, after all, a golf coach at Brookwater Golf & Country Club in Brisbane.

The two have been engaged since last November.

The extent to which Barty really thinks about professional golf seems questionable: as a reason for her tennis retirement, Barty had also indirectly explained the many trips that are hardly compatible with her ties to her homeland. That would hardly be different in golf.
