Altmaier won the final of the $53,120 Challenger in Peru 6-1, 6-7, 6-1 against Tomas Martin Etcheverry, who was second seeded.

In the semi-finals he had already eliminated the top seeded Federico Coria in two sets.

For the 24-year-old it is the fifth tournament success at ATP Challenger level.

And an important one with regard to a possible direct qualification for the Australian Open 2023: Altmaier has now made up 15 places with his triumph and is in 91st place in the current ATP ranking. However, he still has a few points to defend in the coming weeks - in Last year he won the Challenger event in Puerto Vallarta in November and reached the final in Knoxville.

In May of this year, Altmaier had reached his highest place to date with place 53, but recently suffered many early defeats.
