Djokovic defeated the Spanish Pablo Carreno Busta 6: 3, 6: 4. In round one, the Djoker reduced the service game to 4: 2 to zero, in the second round to 2: 1. Carreno Busta had four chances to break, including a 4: 4 equalizer in set two, but the defending champion remained nerve-wracking.
Djokovic will face Frenchman Lucas Pouille in the quarterfinals on Friday, who defeated Karen Khachanov in three sets. The match is scheduled for 3 a.m.CEST.
Also on the list are Roberto Bautista Agut, Richard Gasquet, Yoshihito Nishioka and David Goffin.
That evening Daniil Medvedev had already reached the quarter-finals of the Masters tournament after defeating Jan-Lennard Struff and surprisingly Andrey Rublev after his success over Roger Federer .
