Have a quick bite to eat and then back out onto the court to lead his to victory. This is what Casper Ruud's plan looked like after the hard-won 6: 3 and 7: 5 against Dusan Lajovic. And the start in the decisive doubles was very promising for Ruud at the side of Viktor Durasovic: The two Norwegians started with a break and quickly led 4-1. Nikola Cacic and Filip Krajinovic made the comeback in the first set, winning it 7: 6 (3). Un turned an early deficit in the second set as well. With the 6: 3 Cacic / Krajinovic gave the Serbian team, which is known to have to compete without Novak Djokovic, the 2-1 success against Norway.

In the first match of the day Krajinovic had won against Durasovic 6: 2 and 7: 5.

In the second encounter of the first day in Group A, the Spaniards did not miss anything against Chile and prevailed 3-0. With the single players Roberto Bautista-Agut and Pablo Carreno-Busta, the Spaniards, who were defeated in the 2020 ATP Cup final in Serbia, are among the favorites in the third edition of the team competition Down Under.

Group D was also able to assert Poland 2-1 against Greece (Stefanos Tsitsipas only competed in doubles - and won this with Michail Pervolarakis), Argentina won against Georgia 3-0 without any risk.
