Struff was the clear favorite in the encounter with Pervolarakis, who is listed in position 481 in the world rankings. The Greek made a first exclamation point with the break to 3: 2 in the first set, but then Struff only played two games. At the start against Australia, Jan-Lennard Struff had lost to Nick Kyrgios.

In the second individual, Alexander Zverev against Stefanos Tsitsipas can ensure the German team's first success at the newly created ATP team event. Zverev also lost his first game against Australia after a high lead against Alex de Minaur.
