Last year in Hamburg, Stefanos Tsitsipas had to admit defeat to Russian Andrey Rublev in three sets in the final, but in 2021 it should work for the Greek with the first title win on the Elbe. The draw gave the fourth place in the world a very difficult path, as he could meet the dangerous Dominik Koepfer after a bye at the beginning of the second round. The German contests his opening game against a qualifier.

According to the program, Tsitsipas would then meet up with Filip Krajinovic, who was sixth, in the quarter-finals. Another duel with a local hero seems to be quite possible. Because Krajinovic opens against Daniel Altmaier and could then deal with Philipp Kohlschreiber, who in turn will initially play against Jaume Munar.

Carreno Busta leads lower half

Germany's fourth fixed starter in Hamburg, Jan-Lennard Struff, also landed in the top half. The Warsteiner duel with Laslo Djere and could meet Nicola Kuhn in the second round. Possible quarter-final opponents of the 31-year-old are Nikoloz Basilashvili, Corentin Moutet and Aljaz Bedene.

The lower half is led by Pablo Carreno Busta. The Spaniard will play his first game against Feliciano Lopez or a qualifier. The biggest competitors in his part of the draw are probably Albert Ramos-Vinolas and Dusan Lajovic.
