Dominik Koepfer did not experience success at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Indian Wells: In the first round of the highly endowed combined event in the Californian desert, the Black Forrest had to beat Finn Emil Ruusuvuori after winning the first set after 2:14 hours with 7: 6 (3), 2: 6, 0: 6 are beaten.
If the first set was still fiercely contested, the German couldn't get anything from the middle of the second set. While the 27-year-old initially failed to serve, Koepfer lost his entire game in the third round at the latest. Slight mistakes on the conveyor belt ultimately led to a bitter defeat.
Ruusuvuori faces the 24 seeded Russian Karen Khachanov in the second round. Tonight (CEST) Jan-Lenard Struff is also on duty. He meets the Colombian Daniel Elan Galan.
