Olympic champion Alexander Zverev also won his second match at the ATP Masters in Cincinnati and made it to the quarter-finals. The Hamburger (No. 3), who had a bye at the beginning, gave the Argentine Guido Pella no chance at 6: 2, 6: 3 and proved his good form two weeks before the start of the US Open.

In the round of the last eight, the winner of the game between Casper Ruud (Norway / No. 8) and Diego Schwartzman (Argentina / No. 10) is a first real touchstone. Before this year's discussion, Zverev had not won a single game in the main draw in Cincinnati.

Rublev beats Monfils

Zverev dominated the game against Pella from the start and brought his service games through safely. So early breaks in both sets were enough for him to make his third victory in the third duel with the South American perfect. Zverev transformed his first match ball.

The Russians Andrey Rublev and Daniil Medvedev are also in the quarter-finals. While the latter had no problems with Grigor Dimitrov , Rublev fought a heated duel with Gael Monfils, in which the emotions at the beginning of the second set briefly boiled over after the Frenchman had taken a break in treatment. However, the two players made peace again on the net - in the end Rublev won two tiebreaks. The Russian will now face Benoit Paire.
