The fourth game against de Minaur did not start well from Thiem's point of view: First, the 27-year-old lost his first service game and then missed three chances to equalize. Thiem then managed to make it 3: 3. De Minaur presented himself as strong as usual, no comparison to Thiem's opening opponent, Marcos Giron, who clearly showed the strains of his three-hour game against Pablo Andujar. In any case, the first set between Thiem and de Minaur was decided in the tie-break - in which the Austrian was able to fend off a set ball and win 9: 7 after 61 minutes of play.

At the beginning of the second act, Thiem was in trouble again, but countered two break opportunities from de Minaur when the score was 0: 1. And did it better myself immediately afterwards. The break to 2: 1 set the course for Dominic Thiem to victory, the favorite now served more compellingly, while de Minaur had to fight hard for every single point. What the Australian did in the usual manner - and actually equalized in the sixth game with a backhand longline shot. Just to return his service immediately.

Thiem in the quarterfinals against Isner or Rublev

Dominic Thiem could not take this advantage out of his hand, got his first match ball as a setback, de Minaur fought off with a stop. After 1:51 hours of play, Dominc Thiem celebrated his second success at the coemback in the Caja Magica in front of coach Nicolas Massu, physio therapist Alex Stober and brother Moritz. In the quarter-finals on Friday it will be against the winner of the game between Andrey Rublev andJohn Isner - two players who couldn't be more different in their orientation.

In the parallel game to Thiem, Alexander Bublik was surprisingly able to prevail against Aslan Karatsev with 6: 4 and 6: 3. For Bublik, Madrid is already the second ATP Masters 1000 tournament of the season after Miami, in which he is in the quarter-finals.
