It was 4: 6, 4: 6 after 1 hour and 15 minutes of play from Thiem's point of view. It was two breaks that Hurkacz was enough to celebrate his third win in the third duel against Thiem. He now meets Arthur Rinderknech.

Thiem got off to a better start and had two breakballs in the opening game. After that, however, there was little to be gained when the Pole served. A 40:15 at 3: 4 let Thiem slip through his fingers due to slight mistakes, Hurkacz came to the set-deciding break. Strong: He landed 87 percent of his first serves in the first round.

In set 2 everything stayed in line up to 2: 2, then Thiem was quickly 0:40 behind, shortly afterwards Hurkacz managed the break. Thiem came to a 30:30 in the last two service games, but Hurkacz solved the problem both times with an ace. Hurkacz got a total of 12 pieces in the game.

Thiem won against local hero Richard Gasquet on Wednesday evening and delivered a strong performance. The match against Hurkacz was his first against a top 10 player since the tournament in Madrid in 2021 and since his return earlier this year.
