Djokovic had to fight a lot more than in his opening game on Thursday against Pablo Andujar . In the end, however, he prevailed against Vasek Pospisil 7:6 (5), 6:3. He now meets Roman Safiullin.

The second semi-final features Marin Cilic (who benefited from Liam Broady's non-appearance) and Constand Lestienne.

Djokovic is playing his first tournament in Tel Aviv since his Wimbledon triumph in early July. Djokovic had to skip the US tour, including the US Open, because he was unable to enter the country due to his lack of a corona vaccination.

At the weekend Djokovic had won against Frances Tiafoe and lost to Felix Auger-Aliassime at the Laver Cup.
