ATP world ranking: Nadal comes to Djokovic, Medvedev now 4th, Dimitrov makes 53 places

Thanks to his victory at the US Open, Rafael Nadal has stalked the number one in the world Novak Djokovic. Dominic Thiem lost a place, Alexander Zverev is still in 6th place.

Novak Djokovic tops the current world rankings - but his huge lead has melted. Because Djokovic has lost 1,820 points in his round of 16 in Flushing Meadows and is now "only" at 9,865 points. /

Just behind is Rafael Nadal , who now has the best chance of taking over the world rankings again with a good year finish. He now has 9,225 points after winning the US Open.

Djokovic is currently in his 267th week as world number one, Nadal has so far spent 196 weeks at the top of the world rankings. Roger Federer leads at 310 weeks.

The Swiss is currently third with 7,130 points, followed by Daniil Medvedev in fourth place and 5,235 points. He pushed Dominic Thiem (4,575 points) to 5th place. Alexander Zverev remained in 6th place (4,095 points).

Berrettini, Dimitrov and Köpfer leap forward

Matteo Berrettini is new in 13th place. Thanks to his semi-final run, he made up 12 places - at the beginning of the year he was still outside the top 50. Stan Wawrinka also returned with 19th place among the 20 best tennis players, the best placement for the former third in the world rankings since his comeback.

Grigor Dimitrov had the biggest leap: the Bulgarian, formerly number 3 in the world and before the start of the tournament, only ranked 78th, has made 53 places and is now ranked 25th.

The other German players: Jan-Lennard Struff in 39th place, Philipp Kohlschreiber in 79th place, Dominik Köpfer in 86th place and thus among the top 100 for the first time - he won 32 places! Peter Gojowczyk follows in position 89.

The other Austrians: Dennis Novak in position 122, Sebastian Ofner in position 161, Lucas Miedler in position 262, Jurij Rodionov in position 295.
