The first point already gave an idea of where the way would go: serve-and-volley action by Cressy, mediocre volley, Zverev passing ball on the line. But initially both players kept their service games smooth, for the first time Cressy had to start 4: 4, and at 5: 5, Zverev finally managed the decisive break.

It was also tight at 4: 4 in the second set, once the American freed himself from a break ball with an ace on the second serve, but shortly afterwards the break thanks to a strong ball from Zverev and a volley out of Cressy. In set three, Cressy caught two breakballs at 1: 1 with two double errors in a row, Zverev thanked him with a good return. Even in danger with his own serve, the world number seven did not come back and broke the qualifier again at the end, this time to win the match.

Strong: Zverev managed 42 winning strokes with only 11 mistakes without need, and he also fended off all four breakballs of his opponent. 15 aces were also in it for Zverev, with Cressy only 10 - he had built 26 aces on the opposite side in his opening win against Taro Daniel.
