Benoit Paire just can't keep up. Since the Corona break at the beginning of the 2020 season, the man with the big ball crowd has lost the thread - and loses and loses. /

Currently it was Paire's 22nd defeat of the year in Atlanta - with only 6 wins: 3: 6, 1: 6 it was against Jenson Brooksby on Tuesday. It was the seventh consecutive defeat for the former number 18 in the tennis world. As of Monday, Paire will be listed outside the top 100 for the first time since 2015.

At the start of 2020, Paire was still in the top 20 after the finals only in Auckland.

Benoit Paire: Mental problems after Corona lockdown

After the lockdown, however, Paire slipped into a crisis. He cursed and insulted, gave away, damned the ATP ... "Tennis has become an irrelevant profession for me," he explained in early 2021 that he had lost the fun of his sport. Paire also addressed mental health issues he's been struggling with.

In the summer things finally seemed to be going better, with an audience in the stands in Hamburg , Gstaad and Cincinnati he showed old approaches to his art again, knelt in matches and won.

Ultimately, however, it is not a pretty picture. Before Roland Garros, Paire reported on Instagram, talked about the catastrophic start to the season, that he wasn't playing his best tennis, that he wasn't mentally up to scratch. He later posted a picture from Wimbledon looking for happiness.

It is to be wished that he finds help soon.
