The Canadians had on Tuesday through the two victorious singles against the United States made the premature entry into the quarter-finals and were the final doubles no longer started. "I just do not like it," Struff complained on Wednesday: "I could not believe it when I read it."

In addition to the winners of the six groups of three qualify for the premiere of the final tournament in Madrid, the two best second for the quarter-finals. It's "absolutely incredible," Struff said, "in this mode, the US is simply given a point and they have 2-0 sets and 12-0 games, which just can not be."

The US team has "a good starting position, of course" in the fight for the quarter-finals, Struff said, but also expressed understanding for the Canadians. "That's something that might not have been considered," said the 29-year-old, who defeated Argentina with the German team on Wednesday. The Americans fight for second place on Wednesday evening in the final match of Group F against Italy.
