Roger Federer and Dominic Thiem have a lot in common - including their love for snow. And their common sense. Because both Swiss and Austrians would love to tie their ski boots again, but stick to themselves: the risk of injury and endangering their further tennis career is too great. /

When Thiem had to decide between summer hiking and winter skiing in the Tennis Channel's "Austria Quiz", he logically explained: "Hiking in summer in the Alps, because that's what I'm allowed to do. Unfortunately, I'm not allowed to ski at the moment. But things can change change ten years. " Does that mean, conversely, that Thiem will play on the tour for another ten years? Who knows...

Dominic Thiem before the stress test

The Lichtenwörther is currently struggling with his ailing wrist, and a stress test is due here on October 4th - i.e. today. Which should also be decisive as to whether an operation will still be necessary. Or you can slowly take the comeback path.

Should an operation be necessary, Thiem will probably only be able to train properly again in February or March, as he explained a few weeks ago. Which would inevitably give him a little more time to hike than he would like.

Or for The Sound of Music : The film about the musical with Julie Andrews is one of the four most successful Hollywood music films of all time; almost everyone in the USA knows it. Thiem explained in the quiz, however, that he had never seen it. "He is so well known in the States! In Austria he says something to everyone, but hardly anyone has seen him."
