Usually, players part with their coach when things don't go well - and that can't be said of Emma Raducanu after winning the US Open. And yet the 18-year-old British woman announced the separation from her coach Andrew Richardson. /

She is now looking for someone who has had professional experience on the tour and knows players in their situation. "I feel that I need someone who has been through all of this and can guide me along the way because everything is very, very new to me," Raducanu told British media .

The collaboration with Richardson was already intended as a test phase after its surprising run up to the round of 16 at Wimbledon. Raducanu had previously been trained by Nigel Sears, Ana Ivanovic's ex-coach and Andy Murray's father-in-law. Richardson has known Raducanu since he was a child - he had worked with her at the Bromley Tennis Center for two years when she was 11 years old.

Emma Raducanu: "Difficult to have such a conversation"

After Wimbledon she was listed at 200th place, "I thought Andrew is a great coach to give a try". Now she is number 22 in the world, which is still pretty crazy for her. "I feel like at this stage in my career, where I'm playing against the best players in the world, I really need someone who has a high level of WTA Tour experience. Which means I'm looking for someone who was at this level and knows what is important. "

The conversation with Richardson was "tough", admitted Raducanu. "It's difficult to have such a conversation with everyone."

Raducanu had won the title from qualifying at the US Open and improved by 127 places in the WTA ranking .
