Alexander Zverev lived up to his favorite position in the first quarter-finals of the French Open 2021. Zverev also won the third encounter with Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, this time 6: 4, 6: 1 and 6: 1.

Zverev continues to unperturbed his circles after his somewhat laborious opening success against Oscar Otte. And can reach the second major final of his career on Friday. The German had lost his premiere last autumn at the US Open against Dominic Thiem . The Austrian would have been the appropriate quarter-final opponent of Zverev, but was eliminated in round one against Pablo Andujar.

Zverev against Tsitsipas or Medvedev

Against Davidovich Fokina, Zverev never left any doubts about who would leave the Court Philippe-Chatrier as the winner. The Spaniard, who was there for the first time in this phase of a Grand Slam tournament, never managed to put pressure on Zverev. Davidovich Fokina acted too incorrectly, the favorite too seldom allowed his opponent to build up pressure.

Zverev, on the other hand, did not have to call up his very best performance, rushing through the second act confidently and inviolably after the somewhat tight first sentence. After 22 minutes it was 6: 1 perfect. That Davidovich Fokina would not come back from this hole was not only clear to the two players, but also to the spectators who remained in the stadium. The tactical toilet break was no longer of any use to the outsider, Davidovich Fokina gave up his serve again at the beginning of round three. And not for the last time.

In the semifinals, Zverev should really be challenged for the first time at the French Open 2021. Because both Daniil Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas have presented themselves strongly in the course of the tournament so far. Of course, Alexander Zverev also knows that, who said after his victory that he was playing "quite ok".
