Generali Austrian Pro Series: Dominic Thiem and Jürgen Melzer take a break
Dominic Thiem and Jürgen Melzer will only return to the final round of the Generali Austrian Pro Series. Two substitutes will step in for the remaining placement games after group phase 2.

The tennis program in the coming weeks is tightly timed for Dominic Thiem, of course the Austrian number one has to keep up with its strength: Next weekend Thiem will give a guest appearance in Belgrade on Novak Djokovic's Adria Tour, then the final phase will be the week after at the Generali Austrian Pro Series. And then "Thiem's 7" is already waiting in Kitzbühel, followed by appearances in Berlin on two different surfaces with Alexander Zverev, Nick Kyrgios and Jannik Sinner.
No wonder that Thiem has decided to take a break in the coming days. Especially since the Austrian number one, in addition to the appearances in the southern part of the city, has also been in good shape. And thus, after his three-set loss to Sebastian Ofner on Monday, Thiem will forego the placement games in group phase 2. And only start again in the final round next week. Lucas Miedler steps in to replace Thiem - the man he won against at the start of the event.
Jürgen Melzer will also dedicate the coming days to regeneration. Melzer, who had long since ended his individual career on the ATP tour, knew how to convince in the preliminary round with the victory in Group B and also secured his ticket for the final round. Instead of the legendary left-hander, Jonas Trinker will start.
