It was 0:40 directly in Thiem's first service game, who started the game with two mistakes without need - but then turned up and Pichler's service game then took over with a fine volley action. Thiem then dominated with the forehand, made only a few mistakes, unlike Pichler. He usually had to risk too much in his offensive actions, because Thiem was also strong on the defensive. Result of the whole: the so-called "glasses" for Pichler, who ended the game with four errors. /

Before the game, Thiem had drawn an interim balance of his previous appearances - the first match against Lucas Miedler went "much better" than he expected; the second, against Sandro Kopp, who took the first sentence from Thiem, then "as I expected after such a long break". The third in the world rankings can now mark his third match as the best so far.

Thiem group winner

With this, Thiem, as the sovereign group winner of Group A, is going out of the first phase of the Generali Austrian Pro Series. Group Winner of Group B and thus the opponent to come is Jürgen Melzer. The next few days are still groups C and D, followed by the second group phase .

Brother Moritz Thiem had his first appearance in Vienna in the morning, but he was defeated by Max Neuchrist 1-6, 2-6.

On Saturday there are still Dennis Novak - Alexander Erler , followed by Sebastian Ofner - Phillip Oswald and in the placement game for groups A and B for 7th place finally by Marko Andrejic - Neil Oberleitner .
