Zverev had to survive 0:40 at the start with his own service and then made the break to the 2-1 lead in return - thanks to a double fault from Delbonis. Then both players played their serve games smoothly, while serving to win the set, Zverev had to survive another 15:40.

In set two Delbonis quickly went 3-0 in the front, but Zverev equalized to 3: 3. Delbonis fended off a break chance for 5: 4 with a good net action. A service game later: Zverev again with a strong trip to the net and the volley stop at the end, he then managed the break with an aggressive forehand that Delbonis warped. The preliminary decision? No - because the German gave up his next service game to zero.
