Jan-Lennard Struff is one who opens his mouth away from the pure tennis scene. What triggers him: the bad manners of young players.

Struff has gone through a major change in recent months, not just playfully. After a successful 2019, the Warsteiner is ranked 34th in the ATP world rankings, just one place behind his top ranking. /

But "Struffi" also looks at what happens next to tennis. In January he announced that he would now compensate for his flights . Even if he could do more, "like everyone else." His car emits too much CO2, according to Struff in an interview with tennis MAGAZINE. "I am also not a climate expert, but I have dealt with the topic and would like more people to deal with it."

Struff: "If I get a place like this, I get angry"

Struff also lacks respect for the environment in other areas, such as the bad manners of some colleagues. "A lot of young and some older players," he said. "They simply leave everything behind on training grounds - their rubbish, played balls, worn tapes, a number of empty plastic water bottles. They don't care about everything. If I get to such a place, I get angry."

Addressing hardly helps. "The standard answer always comes anyway: It wasn't me, it looked like this before"; the 30-year-old regrets.

Who recently enjoyed the corona-related family time, after an unusual start so without tennis. "I quickly realized that this time can also be a gift for me. With my son, I can experience every little development step up close, that's crazy." He was "grateful to be able to spend so much time with my family."

Struff will soon be back on the court, at least on a small scale: he is the top seed in the DTB invitation series , which starts on June 8th.
