"I would like to start playing mixed in a moderate manner. But I'm so bad at doubles that I would probably say 'Sorry' the whole time and embarrass myself," tweeted Osaka on Tuesday evening in the doubles and mixed world of tennis. /

And as much as we would like to gloss over the matter to her: A look at the statistics shows that the tenth in the world rankings has actually not been noticed as a double giant so far. A double ranking? She no longer has any. Your last appearance? Dates from the year 2017. Your record at WTA level: only 1 win out of 8 defeats ...

Stubbsy helps ...

At least there was help from someone who knows how to play doubles. Rennae Stubbs, former number 1 and four-time Grand Slam winner in doubles. And twice in mixed. "It looks like it, Naomi," "Stubbsy" replied. "You hit at 115 mph and your guy walks in or does a bash. Then you return at 90 mph and the guy goes in ... OR you pull another ball to the other side and the guy then leaves in. It's actually pretty easy. " There was also an offer: "I think I can find someone for you if you like ..?"

And Swiatek offers itself

An answer is still pending. But at least for the doubles, an alternative would already be there. Iga Swiatek, namely, who wrote: "You can practice saying not-sorry-with me in doubles. I don't mind." Answer Osaka: "But I don't want you to lose the last bit of respect for me that you still have ..."

Word game knocks your socks off

On the other hand, someone who has not yet contacted would probably be the best choice, and not just playfully. Because, as one Twitter user noted, Jack Sock could at least contribute by name to what is perhaps the most brilliant mixed team. Or would you not keep your fingers crossed for "Osocka" ..?
