Sabine Lisicki asked on Friday evening via Twitter whether you can recognize her smile - and we can say: Yes, definitely. The beautiful video shows a Sabine Lisicki doing light volley training, so things are going uphill after her renewed period of suffering. /

Lisicki went on to write that she hadn't had a racket in her hand since November 9th, and we remember: In Linz, the permanently injured Lisicki was seriously injured again in doubles, shortly after she was finally able to play again and before that in Prague two Won rounds.

Lisicki wants to go to Wimbledon

But what exactly happened - and how is she? Lisicki now clarified this herself in a YouTube video.

Memories of the moment of the injury? Don't have them anymore. She only came to while lying on the floor, was also bleeding and "was in so much pain that it was ridiculous. I had never felt nearly as much pain." She screamed in pain, crazy, not a single tear had come - it was just the great pain. She still remembers her first words: "Everything is broken." And the next: "I want to play Wimbledon next year," said the 2013 finalist.

Lisicki: surgery on the cruciate ligament, meniscus, outer ligament ...

You could not move her leg, was transported on a stretcher, "the worst for an athlete," said Lisicki. In the doctor's room, she was given extremely strong painkillers, and the WTA and the physiotherapists did an extremely good job. She was able to walk on crutches on the building, didn't have to be driven, "I'm pretty proud of that," said the 31-year-old.

Her radiologist then examined that in the end not only the cruciate ligament was torn, but other areas were also injured. A surgeon in Innsbruck received her the next day, "after a very, very long night" - and operated on directly. The cruciate ligament had to be replaced and the meniscus and outer ligament had to be operated on. Only the inner ligament was not operated on because it should heal by itself. After waking up, however, she knew: everything went well.

How is Lisicki currently doing and how is her training and comeback going? Lisicki wants to explain this in upcoming videos. We are excited!
