Grand Slam winner Emma Raducanu . What seemed completely unthinkable around three weeks ago - the start of the US Open qualification - has been a reality since yesterday. Ten matches, ten wins, 20: 0 sets, not a single tiebreak. These impressive numbers are proof of how the British dominated their opponents in rows.

Raducanu had to accept a bitter setback at the previous Grand Slam tournament in Wimbledon only a few months ago. Breathing problems and dizziness put the 18-year-old in the round of 16 against Sorana Cirstea a spanner in the works.

Raducanu makes the premiere

"Last night will help me learn what it takes to perform at the top," wrote Raducanu on Instagram after her job - and already in New York, she put her words into practice. The 6: 4 and 6: 3 final success over Leylah Fernandez was only the climax of a successful run that had already started in the qualification.

For the first time in tennis history, a player scored more than 2000 points in a tournament. With the 2040 points gained, Raducanu improved by 127 places, and on Monday the teenager will be 23rd in the world rankings. However, none of these aspects made the British woman as satisfied as her mental resilience.

"I just love my life now"

"I'm very proud that I didn't let anything get near me for the entire duration of the tournament," said Raducanu after the final. That was the difference to the event in Wimbledon and made it possible for her to win the title.

How things will continue for Raducanu after this modern tennis fairy tale is of course still in the stars. However, there do not seem to be any limits at the moment. The 18-year-old doesn't want to worry about that for the time being: "Now I just love my life."
