While exactly four women are still within the Western & Southern Open, the draw for the next major sporting event in the USA has already been carried out, the draw for the US Open, which will start on Monday. In the run-up to this, a veritable flood of rejections for the women's field of what is now the second Grand Slam of the year could be observed, including the world number one, Ash Barty, Simona Halep and defending champion Bianca Andreescu.

Last year's finalist Serena Williams will start her hunt for the 24th Grand Slam title against Kristie Ahn. In round two, Monica Puig could wait before a possible third round duel against compatriot Sloana Stevens. In the eighth final, Williams could meet Maria Sakkari, to whom she was surprisingly inferior at the Western & Southern Open.

Pliskova versus Kalinina, Osaka versus Doi

Karolina Pliskova will start the race as number one in the tournament. The Czech meets Anhelina Kalinina in her opening match, Angelique Kerber or Alison Riske could wait in the round of 16. According to the draw, Croatian Petra Martic would wait in the quarter-finals.

Naomi Osaka can also expect good chances in New York City, as the Japanese has so far been in excellent shape at the Western & Southern Open currently taking place. Osaka will open against Misaki Doi, Anastasia Sevastova could wait in round two.

German duels possible in one go

From a German point of view, Angie Kerber is once again the very big hope, the number one in the country meets Australian Alja Tomljanovic in the first round. In the second round, Anna-Lena Friedsam, a German player, could also wait. Friedsam meets Caroline Dolehide in round one. A purely German duel would also be possible in round three. But Tatjana Maria would have to win her opening match against the crystal clear favorite Alison Riske.

Sofia Kenin starts the race as number two of the tournament, the US-American meets the Belgian Wickmayer in round one. Veronika Zvonaerva could wait in the second round. According to Draw, there would be a duel with Aryna Sabalenka in the quarter-finals. Serena Williams or Madison Keys could wait in the semifinals. The only Austrian representative in the draw, Barbara Haas, meets Viktoria Azarenka in round one.

In the men's draw, Dominic Thiem and Novak Djokovic caught a quite feasible draw, while Alexander Zverev got a tough job in the first round. You can find the entire men's draw here.
