Ten years after her greatest triumph in singles, Samantha Stosur struck again in New York City. The Australian won together with the Chinese Shuai Zhang in a very entertaining double final against Cori Gauff and Catherine McNally 6: 3, 3: 6 and 6: 3. In 2055 Stosur had already been successful in doubles at the US Open, back then with Lisa Raymond.
In each of the three movements, the eighth game was the decisive one. The two young Americans gave up their serve in the first and third rounds, and Stosur and Zhang in the second. In the end, a forehand return from Gauff sailed out of bounds. And the two veterans were allowed to cheer.
