The Czech Wimbledon finalist Karolina Pliskova has to do without her German trainer Sascha Bajin at the US Open. The 36-year-old has not received a visa to enter the United States.

"Sascha Bajin tried a long time to get a visa, but failed," said Pliskova's husband and manager Michal Hrdlicka in a statement on her website: "During the pandemic last year, Sascha stayed in the United States longer than he did should have stayed. " Bajin owns a house in Florida and didn't want to travel that much, Hrdlicka said.

The authorities have now not given him the green light for New York. Pliskova is supervised by the Czech Leos Friedl at the Grand Slam tournament. At the beginning, the finalist from 2016 plays against Cathy McNally.
