128 participants fight for the coveted main draw tickets in the men's qualification tournament for the grass classic in Wimbledon. German athletes make up a whopping seven percent of them. In whole numbers, there are proud nine DTB athletes who will start the preliminary rounds for the third Grand Slam tournament of the year on Monday. Traditionally, the qualification is not held at Wimbledon itself, but at the Bank of England Sports Center in Roehampton.

If you go through the grid in the classic way from top to bottom, from a German point of view you get stuck with pairing one: Yannick Maden (ATP 242) unfortunately starts with the Pole Kamil Majchrzak (ATP 112), who is number one. Fortuna also had no pity on Mats Moraing (ATP 246) at the draw. At the beginning, the man from the Ruhr area will meet the veteran Andrej Martin (ATP 115) from Slovakia - the number three of the preliminary tournament.

A German-Austrian duel to kick off

Also in the upper half is the Cologne Oscar Otte (ATP 154). With Henri Laaksonen (ATP 137) from Switzerland, the 27-year-old also has to deal with a seed - the Confederate is number 21 in Roehampton. A German duel sees the trained eye straight away in the lower half: Daniel Altmaier (ATP 166) and Maximilian Marterer (ATP 198) snatch each other's place in the second qualifying round.

While the experienced Tobias Kamke (ATP 240) has to deal with the 21-year-old Brazilian Thiago Seyboth Wild (ATP 123), Cedric-Marcel Stebe (ATP 136), who is ranked 20, matches the Austrian Sebastian Ofner (ATP 174). Peter Gojowczyk (ATP 132) meets the Taiwanese Jason Jung (ATP 159) on 17, Daniel Masur (ATP 217) meets the Portuguese Joao Domingues (ATP 241).
