WTA Cincinnati: Ashleigh Barty first semi-finalist after defeating Barbora Krejcikova
Ashleigh Barty is the first semi-finalist of the WTA 1000 tournament in Cincinnati after a two-set win over Barbora Krejcikova. Angelique Kerber, who meets Petra Kvitova in the round of the last eight, could now wait in the semifinals.

Ashleigh Barty seems to have recovered well from her disappointing first round at the Olympic Games in Tokyo: The world number one is already in the semifinals at the WTA 1000 tournament in Cincinnati.
In the quarterfinals, the Australian beat Barbora Krejcikova 6: 2 and 6: 4. After a clear first set, the Czech French Open winner led with a break for a long time in the second round, but Barty secured the last four games of the match and bought her semifinal ticket after only 71 minutes.
The German Angelique Kerber could now wait in the semifinals. The three-time Grand Slam winner meets the Czech Petra Kvitova in her quarter-finals and has presented herself in excellent shape in the tournament so far ( Here you can follow the duel between Kvitova and Kerber in the live ticker!
