For the first time since Tokyo 2011, Zvonareva managed to win two matches at a WTA tournament in a row.

The Western and Southern Open usually take place in Cincinnati, but due to the pandemic, they will be played in New York until the end of the week this year. In the coming week, the US Open will start there as the first Grand Slam after the forced Corona break. World number one Ashleigh Barty (Australia) and runner-up Simona Halep (Romania) have canceled their participation in the US Open due to concerns about the Corona situation.
