Julia Görges (WTA 26) has also had to go three sets in the second round of the $ 250,000 indoor hard court tournament in Luxembourg, as in the opening match against Japanese Misaki Doi (WTA 74). The German number two turned the game against the 29-year-old Romanian Sorana Cirstea (WTA 76) and won with 4: 6, 6: 4, 6: 4. /

The 30-year-old from Regensburg had to fight hard again in the first round against the one-time WTA tournament winner as in the four previous duels against Cirstea (two wins and two defeats). In the first set the Romanian handed a breakball to get a break and secure the set. In the second set Görges then opened much better than before and took the second set after a break with 6: 4.

In the third set, the defending champion in Luxembourg, who had been treated the day before in the match against Doi several times on the calf, the Romanian could even break the service twice. As Cirstea managed only one break on the opposite side, Görges handed the narrow lead to another 6: 4.

Likewise successful in Luxembourg was Antonia Lottner (WTA 210), who won the competition for a job of her compatriot Antonia Lottner (WTA 210), who won the round of the best eight after a task by her compatriot Andrea Petkovic . Görges meets in the quarterfinals on against Kristyna Pliskova (WTA 70) successful Monica Puig (WTA 84) from Puerto Rico. Lottner plays in the same round against the former world ranked fifth Jelena Ostapenko (WTA 63), who defeated Elise Mertens (WTA 19) in three sets. In addition, Laura Siegemund (Metzingen) denies her quarter-final against Elena Rybakina (WTA 43)
