Sabalenka beat Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 6: 2 and 6: 3 in the second semifinals and thus moved into the final of the WTA 1000 tournament. There she meets Ashleigh Barty , who had prevailed against Paula Badosa at noon.

The seventh in the world rankings convinced again with sometimes brutal tennis, she had only given 13 games in four matches in the tournament so far.

The Belarusian was already leading 6: 2 and 5: 0 against Pavlyuchenkova, then Pavlyuchenkova caught up again and made three games in a row. Then Sabalenka - equipped with new balls - again unleashed full power. 21 winners with only 11 mistakes without hardship, it was well in the positive area.

Final in Madrid: Sabalenka gets revenge against Barty

For Pavlyuchenkova, currently number 41 in the world rankings, Madrid was still a complete success: On the way to the semifinals, she had eliminated Madison Keys, Karolina Pliskova, Jennifer Brady and Karolina Muchova.

Sabalenka will take revenge in the final in Madrid: she lost the final of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix to Barty last Sunday, but was no longer physically up to date after winning the first round. In Miami, too, Barty was the winner in the duel between the two in three sets.
