WTA Miami - Draw: Kerber with bye, Halep and Gauff with early meeting?
The draw for the women's tableau for the Miami Open (from March 23rd) is out. In contrast to the men , almost all top players are at the start here.

16 players from the top 17 in the world - or 32 of the best 36: For women, the Masters 1000 tournament in Miami lives up to its name. Only the cancellation of Serena Williams tarnishes the picture a bit, but she is the only one of the top players who will be missing in Florida.
The field is led by world number one Ashleigh Barty , who will meet a qualifier after a bye. In general, the first 32 players all benefit from a bye at the start.
Halep against Gauff in round 3?
So does Angelique Kerber , seeded at 24, waiting for the winner of the game between Nao Hibino and a qualifier, in round 3 she could meet Victoria Azarenka. Another possible hit in round 3: a match between Simona Halep and Cori Gauff, should both survive their second round matches.
The world number two Naomi Osaka is waiting for the winner between Ajla Tomljanovic and Anastasia Potapova.
From a German point of view, next to Kerber at the start: Laura Siegemund , who opens against Christina McHale (and would have to play in a win against Azarenka). And Andrea Petkovic , who has to deal with Shuai Zheng.
Anna-Lena Friedsam is also at the start in the qualification tournament, she will meet Leonie Küng from Switzerland.
The tournament is endowed with 3.2 million US dollars.
