WTA: Muguruza and Sabalenka fight their way through in Moscow, Svitolina flies out in Tenerife

Garbine Muguruza (WTA No. 5) and Aryna Sabalenka (WTA No. 2) reached the quarter-finals at the WTA 500 tournament in Moscow - after some effort.

Muguruza, who was in second place, had to go into overtime against Tereza Martincova, but in the end won 6: 4, 4: 6 and 6: 3 and is in the quarter-finals of a tournament for the seventh time this season. The fifth in the world rankings also managed to win the tournament twice.

Muguruza had already led with a break in the second round after winning the first set, but Martincova stayed on and forced the decisive set. There the Spaniard served confidently in the end. There were no fewer than twelve breaks in the course of the game.
