WTA Strasbourg: Bianca Andreescu with a successful start, Garcia continues
The top seed Bianca Andreescu reached the round of 16 of the WTA 250 tournament in Strasbourg without any problems.

Andreescu beat qualifier Andrea Lazano Garcia from Spain 6: 1, 6: 2. She meets Maryna Zanevska in the round of 16, who had also played her way through qualifying.
For Andreescu it was the first match since the Miami final, she had to cancel the sand tournaments in Madrid and Rome because of a positive COVID-19 test . Her last appearance on sand was from the 2019 French Open .
"That was solid tennis for me today, I had great preparation," said Andreescu. And added in French: "Je suis très content" - "I am very happy."
Local hero Caroline Garcia is also present. The French won 7: 5, 6: 2 against Zarina Diyas.
Niemeier is in the main field
From a German point of view, Jule Niemeier is there in Strasbourg. The 21-year-old meets French wildcard player Diane Parry in her second main draw at a WTA tournament.
Niemeier, currently ranked 216th in the WTA ranking, had played his way through the qualification and defeated Andrea Petkovic, among others.
