Tim Pütz has already won three tournaments in 2021

Kevin Krawietz had already celebrated two home wins before the Hamburg tournament: in Munich alongside Wesley Koohlhof and in HalleWestfalen together with Horia Tecau. And Tim Pütz was also able to lift the trophy twice in 2021: Pütz won the tournaments in Estoril and Lyon with Hugo Nys.

In the final at the ATP Tour 500 tournament in Hamburg, Pütz got off to a better start with partner Michael Venus, after an early break they both won the first set 6: 3. Also in round two it was Pütz / Venus who presented quickly and pulled away to 4: 1. The break that followed seemed to seal the fate of Krawietz / Tecau almost completely. A few minutes and two re-breaks later it was suddenly only 5: 4 for Pütz und Partner. The two could not use their first match point in the second set, and in the match break, Krawietz / Tecau fended off two match points. The fourth, however, sat at 10: 8.

Incidentally, in the coming days, Pütz and Krawietz will be on the same side of the network more often: The two were nominated by the German Tennis Federation as one of two double pairs for the Olympic Games in Tokyo. The second will be Alexander Zverev and Jan-Lennard Struff .
