Rublev, who was seeded four, won his night session match against Tennys Sandgren 6: 1, 6: 2 - but had to go into extra time quite unnecessarily when he couldn't use three match points on his own serve at 5: 2 and the match was interrupted because of rain. But Rublev stayed cool. He didn't have a break ball against him for the entire match. /

He meets Marton Fucsovics or Thanasi Kokkinakis in round 3.

Sebastian Korda celebrated his biggest individual victory shortly afterwards: The 20-year-old beat the ten seeded Fabio Fognini 1: 6, 6: 4, 6: 2. While Fognini hit everything at the beginning and Korda stumbled, he got along better with the Italian's variable style as the game progressed. After an early break he had to fend off four break chances at 3: 2, another break to zero to 5: 2 brought the decision. Korda now meets the man of the hour, Aslan Karatsev, who won 6: 4, 6: 3 against Mikhail Kukushkin.

Also further is Denis Shapovalov, who had to fight Ilya Ivashka for more than three hours, but in the end won 6: 7 (5), 6: 4, 6: 4.

Stefanos Tsitsipas and Lorenzo Musetti had already made it into the third round in the day session.

In the women’s category, Angelique Kerber was defeated by Victoria Azarenka , who is now facing world number one Ashleigh Barty. Simona Halep did not appear due to an injury - so the joint double Kerber / Halep had to give up after the promising opening victory over the top seeded Elise Mertens / Aryna Sabalenka w / o.
