The world number four wobbled in the end, but got help from his opponent in the tiebreaker. /

Zverev had a lightning start, won 12 of the first 14 points and quickly led 3-0. He then carelessly left a 40:15 to 4: 1, Lajovic, currently number 34 in the ATP ranking, managed the rebreak. And Zverev: Apparently had problems with my neck. Or is it also on the back? In any case, there was a short break in treatment outside the court. Zverev didn't seem affected after his return, he got his serve advantage back directly.

In the second round, Lajovic initially left a 0:40 when the German served at 2-2 - with Zverev playing strongly. Then Zverev let a 0:40 slip by, as well as three break chances at 4: 4. In the tie-break it was a give and take: Zverev was there early with a mini-break, at 3-2 he wanted to surprise Lajovic with a serve-and-volley insert on the second serve, but he pulled a wonderful backhand past Zverev. At 6: 4, Zverev made a double mistake, while Lajovic put a simple backhand out of the game at the second match point.

Alexander Zverev now against Dimitrov

Zverev is in the round of 16, where he meets Grigor Dimitrov, who won against Karen Khachanov after a strong performance 4: 6, 6: 2, 6: 0.

Zverev can still be satisfied with his performance: 28 winners with 22 mistakes without need were at the end; 14 of his winning strokes were aces. With two successful attempts in nine attempts, there was still room for improvement.

Monfils fixes a duel with Djokovic - or is it?

Gael Monfils is also further after a 2: 6, 7: 6 (4), 6: 2 over Adrian Mannarino. He is Novak Djokovic's opponent in the round of 16. Monfils, however, is ailing, he announced that he will not make a decision about his appearance until Thursday.

Hubert Hurkacz and Cameron Norrie had already won their matches that day, while Carlos Alcaraz won the future duel against Jannik Sinner in the early evening. Dominik Koepfer caused a big surprise with his win against Felix Auger-Aliassime.
