Stan Wawrinka beat Andrey Rublev in three sets

Andrey Rublev suffered his last defeat in the quarter-finals of the French Open against Stefanos Tsitsipas, but then the Russian won in both St. Petersburg and Vienna. After the clear opening success over Radu Albot in Paris-Bercy, the 23-year-old has already had eleven wins in a row, but Stan Wawrinka should put an end to this series.

In the first round everything had come out after another clear success of the world rankings eight. Rublev dictated the action from the baseline with his powerful strokes and only granted Wawrinka one game win in the opening set.

In the quarter-finals, the 35-year-old will meet Alexander Zverev on Friday. The German had prevailed in his last sixteen in a battle of three against Adrian Mannarino
